Credit Applications
Cross border transportation through the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel has time and dollar saving opportunities. Some customers are now enjoying a 25% savings on toll and volume discounts since they replaced their larger trailers with vans. If your company is ready to purchase a trailer, it may be worth the time and money to consider the Tunnel’s specifications in order to enjoy these savings.
The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel has a height clearance of 13′2" (4 meters) with a 30° curve in its pillar section. These dimensions permit the Tunnel to accommodate "A" trains, "B" trains, 45′ and 48′, 5 and 6 axle flatbeds with lift axles, as well as 45′ and 48′ trailers with 2 and 4 axle sliders. The length of a trailer is not as important as the positioning of the axle at the 40′ or 42′ length which allows the trailer to track the 30° curve.
The Tunnel offers competitive toll rates.

If you take advantage of our commercial credit system, there are even more advantages available to you:
- Faster processing at the toll booths
- Greater accuracy
- Automatic fare calculation by vehicle weight
- Easier record keeping
How It Works
Sign and return the Credit Agreement and indicate the number of cards you want issued. In a couple of weeks, you will receive your cards with your company’s name, account number, and a card sequence number. This is a sample of what the cards will look like:

Your driver presents the card to the toll collector on each trip through the Tunnel. The card is swiped through a magnetic card reader. The system records the following items:
- The date and time
- Information encoded on the card (account number and card sequence number)
- The weight of the vehicle on the scale
- The fare to be charged
- The entire transaction takes less than 15 seconds. You will receive two invoices of your account activity:
- For trips originating in the United States payable in US funds
- For trips originating in Canada payable in Canadian funds
The transaction detail will appear on the invoice sorted by card sequence number. The card sequence number will replace truck numbers; therefore we suggest you assign one card to each vehicle, that way the charges for each truck are grouped together. These invoices are mailed out twice a month.
